More on Voyeurism

Gaze - There are four different types of gaze that is portrayed in music videos:

  • The Spectator's Gaze - The audience watching the music video
  • Intra-Diagetic Gaze - Where once person, depicted in the text, is looking at another person or object in the text, such as one character looking at another.
  • Extra-diagetic Gaze - Where the person depicted in the text looks at the spectator, such as singing to the camera, an aside or some other form of breaking the fourth wall.
  • Intra-intra-diagetic Gaze - Such as the artist watching themselves on a TV screen or listening to themselves on the radio.
We have to use intra-intra-diagetic gaze in our music video, so we were thinking of the singer putting a record on a record player, which would then start playing the song. We think this will fit in with Eliza Doolittle's retro look and would work with the theme of our video.
